At a glance

Cybersecurity services for small business cover finding and closing the gaps attackers actually use, such as missing MFA, stale accounts, exposed cloud storage and unpatched systems. They suit companies of 20 to 500 people facing a customer questionnaire, an insurance renewal or an audit. Tag4 Technology Solutions assesses your setup, fixes issues in order of risk and does HIPAA and SOC 2 readiness work.

Small and mid-sized companies get breached in unglamorous ways. A stolen password without MFA, a phishing email that tricks someone into approving a login, an exposed storage bucket, an unpatched VPN appliance. Our cybersecurity services for small business focus on those paths first. We usually work with companies of 20 to 500 people, often after a customer security questionnaire, a cyber insurance renewal or a near miss made the risk feel real.

The typical mistake is buying tools before fixing basics. Companies pay for an expensive security platform while admin accounts still use SMS codes and former contractors still have access to production. Others run a one-time penetration test, file the PDF and never fix the findings. On the development side, secrets end up committed to Git and dependencies go years without updates. Compliance gets treated as paperwork, so the policies say one thing and the systems do another, which auditors notice quickly.

We begin with an assessment of identity, devices, cloud configuration, email and your software delivery process, scored against frameworks like the CIS Controls and CIS Benchmarks. You get a ranked list of fixes, not a 200-page report. Then we do the work: phishing-resistant MFA with passkeys or FIDO2 keys for admins, Conditional Access, least-privilege roles, hardened AWS, Azure or Google Cloud accounts, and scanning built into your CI/CD pipeline. For HIPAA and SOC 2 we do readiness work, meaning we build the controls, write policies that match reality and collect evidence. The SOC 2 report itself comes from an independent CPA firm, and HIPAA has no official certification, so be wary of anyone selling one.

An initial assessment usually takes 2–4 weeks. Fixing the high-priority findings is typically another 1–3 months. Getting ready for a SOC 2 Type I audit commonly takes 3–6 months, and Type II then needs an observation period of several months on top.

What we do

Cybersecurity Services services

01

Security assessments

A review of identity, endpoints, email, cloud configuration and code practices, with findings ranked by likelihood and impact and an estimated effort for each fix.

02

Identity and MFA

Phishing-resistant MFA, Conditional Access, privileged access controls and cleanup of stale accounts in Microsoft Entra ID, Okta or Google Workspace.

03

Cloud security hardening

Locking down AWS, Azure and Google Cloud accounts: public exposure, logging, encryption, key management and least-privilege IAM, checked continuously.

04

Secure SDLC

Threat modeling for new features, static analysis, dependency and container scanning, secret detection and security review steps in your pull request flow.

05

Vulnerability management

Regular scans of external and internal systems, patch tracking and coordination of third-party penetration tests when customers or auditors require one.

06

HIPAA readiness

Risk analysis, access controls, audit logging, encryption and policy work that aligns your systems with the HIPAA Security Rule, plus BAA review with vendors.

07

SOC 2 readiness

Gap analysis against the Trust Services Criteria, control implementation, policy writing and evidence collection with tools like Vanta or Drata before your auditor arrives.

08

Incident response planning

A written, tested plan for ransomware, account takeover and data exposure, including who calls the insurer, who calls counsel and how you restore.

How we work

What you can expect from us

Basics before products

MFA, patching, backups and access reviews stop most real attacks on smaller companies. We get those right before recommending anything you need to buy.

We fix what we find

We implement what we recommend, or work alongside your team while they do. A report that sits in a drawer changes nothing.

Engineers who build software

Because we also write and deploy applications, our security advice fits how your developers actually work and doesn't grind releases to a halt.

Straight talk on compliance

We prepare you for audits and explain exactly what readiness covers. We never imply certification we cannot grant or that doesn't exist.

Process

From first call to production

  1. Discovery

A few working sessions to pin down goals, users, constraints and what "done" means. You get a written scope and estimate.

  2. Design

Architecture, data model and clickable UI before heavy coding starts, so surprises show up early and cheaply.

  3. Build

Two-week sprints with a demo at the end of each one. You see working software, not status reports.

  4. Launch

Automated tests, staged rollout, monitoring and a rollback plan. Go-live should be boring.

  5. Support

Bug fixes, updates and new features on a monthly plan, or a clean handover to your team.

FAQ

Cybersecurity Services: common questions

Are you a certified HIPAA or SOC 2 provider?

No, and be cautious of anyone who says they are. HIPAA has no official certification, and a SOC 2 report can only be issued by an independent CPA firm after an audit. We do readiness work: building the controls, policies and evidence so your audit or assessment goes smoothly.

What should a small business fix first?

Turn on MFA for every account, starting with admins and email, and remove accounts that should no longer exist. Next, make sure devices are patched and encrypted, and that you have backups you have actually tested restoring. These steps block a large share of common attacks and are what cyber insurers ask about.

Do you do penetration testing?

We run vulnerability scans and configuration reviews as part of our assessments. When a customer, insurer or auditor requires a formal penetration test, we help you scope it, coordinate an independent testing firm and then fix what they find.

How long does SOC 2 readiness take?

For a small SaaS company with reasonable practices, getting ready for a Type I audit usually takes 3–6 months. A Type II report also requires an observation period, commonly 3–12 months, during which controls must operate consistently. Compliance automation tools can shorten evidence collection but not the observation window.

Can you help with customer security questionnaires?

Yes. We help you answer them accurately, and just as important, close the gaps they reveal. Many clients also build a trust page or standard security document so they can answer repeat questions quickly.
