AI search optimization so assistants can find, trust and quote you

More buyers now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Copilot for a shortlist before they ever open Google. We make your site and your listings easy for those assistants to read, check and cite.

At a glance

AI search optimization, also called generative engine optimization (GEO), is the work of making your brand easy for AI assistants to find, understand and cite. It relies on clear answer-first pages, structured data and consistent details about your company across the web. Tag4 Technology Solutions sets this up and measures AI referrals, while being clear that no one can guarantee a citation.

How we measure
AI referral traffic in GA4, regular prompt tests across assistants, branded search trends

When someone asks an assistant "which firms can build a customer portal in Dallas", the answer comes from pages the model can fetch, parse and trust. AI search optimization, sometimes called generative engine optimization or GEO, is about being one of those pages. Much of it overlaps with good SEO. The difference is the emphasis: assistants reward pages that state a clear answer early, name things precisely and agree with what the rest of the web says about you.

That last point catches a lot of companies out. If your Google Business Profile, LinkedIn page, directory listings and review sites each describe you differently, an assistant has no reason to be confident about any of it. So part of the job is plain housekeeping: one company name, one set of services, the same offices and contact details everywhere. The other part is on your own site. We rewrite key pages so the answer comes first, add Organization, Service and FAQ structured data, publish an llms.txt file, and check that your robots rules are not quietly blocking GPTBot, PerplexityBot or the other AI crawlers.

We should be upfront about the limits. AI answers change often, sometimes from one day to the next for the same question. No one can guarantee that an assistant will cite you, and the tools for measuring this are still immature. Anyone selling a dashboard with a precise "AI visibility score" is smoothing over a lot of noise.

We measure it anyway, with methods we can explain. GA4 is set up to separate referral traffic from chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, copilot.microsoft.com and similar sources. We run a fixed set of buyer prompts across the main assistants every month and log who gets mentioned. And we watch branded search in Search Console, because people who hear your name from an assistant often go and search for it. The setup work usually takes 4 to 8 weeks.

What we do

AI Search Optimization services

01

Answer-first page rewrites

We rework your service, product and FAQ pages so each one opens with a direct, self-contained answer that an assistant can quote without needing the rest of the page.

02

Structured data

Organization, Service, FAQPage, LocalBusiness and Article markup in JSON-LD, validated and kept in sync with what the page actually says.

03

llms.txt and crawler access

An llms.txt file that points AI tools to your most useful pages, plus a review of robots.txt, CDN and firewall rules so AI crawlers you want are not being blocked.

04

Entity consistency across the web

We audit and correct how your company appears on Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, Bing Places, industry directories and review sites, so every source tells the same story.

05

Quotable content

Clear definitions, comparison tables, honest pricing ranges and specific process steps. These are the passages assistants tend to lift, and they help human readers too.

06

AI referral tracking

GA4 channel groups and Looker Studio reports that separate visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Gemini and Claude from the rest of your referral traffic.

07

Prompt testing and brand monitoring

A fixed list of the questions your buyers ask, run across the main assistants each month, with a log of who was mentioned, which pages were cited and what changed.

How we work

What you can expect from us

SEO basics come first

Most AI assistants lean on search indexes to find pages. If your site is slow, badly rendered or not indexed, no amount of GEO work will fix that, so we check the foundations first.

Built into the site

Schema, llms.txt and page templates are code. We add them to your build so they stay correct when content changes, instead of pasting snippets that drift out of date.

Honest measurement

We report the signals we can actually observe and label the ones that are noisy. You see the raw prompt logs, not just a summary number.

Facts, not tricks

We do not stuff pages with hidden text aimed at language models or plant fake reviews. Assistants cross-check sources, and accurate, consistent information is what holds up.

Process

From first call to production

  1. Discovery

A few working sessions to pin down goals, users, constraints and what "done" means. You get a written scope and estimate.

  2. Design

Architecture, data model and clickable UI before heavy coding starts, so surprises show up early and cheaply.

  3. Build

Two-week sprints with a demo at the end of each one. You see working software, not status reports.

  4. Launch

Automated tests, staged rollout, monitoring and a rollback plan. Go-live should be boring.

  5. Support

Bug fixes, updates and new features on a monthly plan, or a clean handover to your team.

FAQ

AI Search Optimization: common questions

What is the difference between SEO and AI search optimization?

SEO aims to rank your pages in search results. AI search optimization aims to get your brand mentioned and cited inside the answer an assistant writes. They share most of the groundwork, but GEO puts more weight on answer-first writing, structured data and consistent company details across other sites.

Can you guarantee that ChatGPT or Perplexity will recommend us?

No. Assistants change their answers often, and the same question can give different results on different days. We can make you much easier to find and verify, and we track how often you appear, but we will not promise a citation.

How do you measure results from AI search?

Three ways. GA4 tracks visits that arrive from assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity, a monthly prompt test records if your brand is mentioned for the questions your buyers ask, and Search Console shows whether branded searches are rising. None of these is perfect on its own, which is why we use all three.

Do we need an llms.txt file?

It is cheap to add and can help AI tools find your best pages, so we usually recommend it. It is still an informal convention, though, and not every assistant reads it. Treat it as one small part of the work, not the main lever.

Should we block AI crawlers from our site?

If you want assistants to cite you, blocking their crawlers works against that. Some companies choose to block training crawlers while allowing search and retrieval crawlers, and we can set that up. It is a business decision, and we explain the trade-off before changing anything.

How long before we see our brand in AI answers?

The site and listing work usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. Assistants that search the web live can pick up changes quickly, while answers drawn from a model's training data can lag by months. We track progress monthly and tell you plainly what is and is not moving.
