At a glance

Ecommerce development covers the storefront and the systems behind it: inventory, orders, fulfillment and the ERP that has to agree with all of them. Growing retail and DTC brands need it when overselling, hand-edited orders or app sprawl start costing money. Tag4 Technology Solutions builds Shopify Plus and headless stores and connects them to Business Central, NetSuite, 3PLs and marketplaces.

A storefront is the easy part. The hard part is what happens after someone clicks Buy. Is the item actually in stock? Which warehouse ships it? Did the order land in your ERP with the right tax and SKU? When those answers come from three systems that sync every 15 minutes, you oversell during a promotion, customers get cancellation emails, and your ops team spends Monday fixing orders by hand.

We're an ecommerce development company that works on both sides of that line. On the front end, we build and extend Shopify Plus stores, and we build headless storefronts with Hydrogen or Next.js when your catalog, content or performance needs outgrow a theme. On the back end, we connect Shopify, BigCommerce or Adobe Commerce to your ERP (often Dynamics 365 Business Central or NetSuite), your 3PL, your marketplaces and your order management system.

Our opinion on headless: most brands don't need it. A well-built Shopify theme loads fast and costs far less to run. Headless pays off when you have complex content, many regional storefronts or a custom product configurator. We'll tell you which camp you're in before you spend the money. The same goes for apps. A store with 40 installed apps is slow and fragile, and we often replace several of them with a small custom app or a direct integration.

The problems

What gets in the way

Overselling and stock drift

Inventory lives in the ERP, the WMS, the storefront and each marketplace. Slow or one-way syncs mean you sell items you no longer have.

Orders that need hand-editing

Bundles, subscriptions, split shipments and B2B pricing often break the path from storefront to ERP. Your team patches orders manually every day.

App sprawl slowing the store

Every app adds scripts and monthly fees. After a few years, page speed suffers and nobody knows which app is breaking checkout.

B2B and DTC on separate systems

Wholesale customers get a different portal, price list and ordering process. Keeping catalogs and customer data consistent becomes a full-time job.

Peak traffic surprises

Black Friday and product drops expose rate limits, slow third-party calls and sync jobs that fall hours behind.

What we build

Retail and Ecommerce software we deliver

01

Shopify Plus development

Custom themes, checkout extensions, Shopify Functions for discounts and shipping rules, and private apps for logic that off-the-shelf apps can't handle.

02

Headless storefronts

Hydrogen or Next.js front ends backed by Shopify or BigCommerce, with a headless CMS for content teams that need more than product pages.

03

ERP and accounting sync

Real-time order, customer, inventory and fulfillment sync with Business Central, NetSuite or other ERPs, with a retry queue and alerts when something fails.

04

Order and inventory management

Custom OMS logic for routing orders across warehouses and 3PLs, reserving stock, and handling backorders and pre-orders.

05

B2B portals

Wholesale ordering with customer-specific pricing, net terms, quick order forms and reorder history, on Shopify B2B or a custom portal.

06

Marketplace and channel integrations

Listing and order sync with Amazon, Walmart Marketplace and other channels, kept consistent with your main catalog.

FAQ

Retail and Ecommerce software: common questions

Should we go headless?

Probably not, unless you have a specific reason. Headless makes sense for large content-driven sites, custom configurators or many regional storefronts. For most brands, a fast Shopify theme gives you most of the benefit at a fraction of the build and maintenance cost.

Can you connect Shopify to Business Central or NetSuite?

Yes. We use a connector when one fits your process and build a custom integration when it doesn't. The deciding factors are usually bundles, multi-location inventory and how you handle returns. We map those flows before choosing the approach.

Do you migrate stores from Magento or WooCommerce?

Yes. We move products, customers, order history and URLs, and set up redirects so you keep your search rankings. We run the old and new stores side by side before cutover so nothing gets lost.

How do you prevent overselling?

By making one system the owner of available stock and syncing it through events rather than scheduled batches. We add safety buffers for fast-selling SKUs and alerts when a sync falls behind. During peak events, we load test the sync, not just the storefront.
